The Edmonton Short Film Festival (ESFF) seeks to enhance its strategic planning by conducting a comprehensive SWOT analysis. This project aims to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing the festival, providing a foundation for future growth and sustainability. The project will involve gathering data on current operations, audience demographics, and industry trends to inform a strategic plan that includes succession planning. By applying classroom knowledge of strategic management and data analysis, learners will gain practical experience in organizational assessment and planning. The project will focus on synthesizing information into actionable insights, ensuring that ESFF can continue to thrive in a competitive cultural landscape.

Deliverables

Arts

The mission of the Edmonton Short Film Festival (ESFF) is to screen a variety of independent Alberta short films and to showcase local filmmakers whose work may fall outside of the “normal” festival market. Or annual festival takes place on the 3rd weekend of October. Our passion is to help emerging and mid-career artists grow in their careers by offering high quality workshops and feedback on the projects they have submitted to the festival. As a grassroots festival created by Edmonton filmmakers, we also invite the community into the world of filmmaking through free events: a Filmmaking “Production Basics” Class, a 48-Hour Mobile Device Filmmaking Challenge and Community Screening events.
